WINNERS REVEALED AT 26th SUSSEX BUSINESS AWARDS
The winners of the 26th Sussex Business Awards were announced last night 10 December at The Grand Brighton.
Five hundred of the county’s leading business people gathered to celebrate business excellence across the region, more about with 16 awards presented by nationally-renowned comedian, Simon Evans.
Evans, who hails from Hove, handed the highly coveted title of Sussex Company of the Year to Blue Forest, a company based in Eridge Park that builds spectacular tree houses for private clients including celebrities such as Madonna and Natasha Kaplinsky.
Companies celebrating last night included Aspen Pumps of Hailsham, a water extraction business which already deals with more than 100 companies worldwide and which took the International Business of the Year accolade.
Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa collected Best Place to Entertain Your Clients, while Preston Insurance Brokers was named as the region’s Most Promising New Business. BSW Building Services, of Scaynes Hill, won The Award for Best Customer Service, while Ambiental Technical Solutions was named The Small Business of the Year.
Chair of the Judges Mike Herd said: “The standard of entries this year was higher than ever and it took a business with a real ‘wow factor’ to take the top award.
“The judges were simply blown away by Blue Forest – truly a world leader in its field with a very exciting future. Importantly, too, it retains a real commitment to Sussex, with 40 per cent of its business remaining in the region.
“This was another brilliant year – and a fantastic night – for the Sussex Business Awards which go from strength to strength. Congratulations to every business that took part because the depth and quality of entries was hugely impressive.”
Individual awards went to Boss of the Year, Matt Parkinson of Gene Commerce and to Sussex Businessperson of the Year Tracy Smith of Homes Partnership, an independent estate agent in Crawley. Liam Hackett, of Ditch the Label, was Young Sussex Businessperson of the Year.
One of the highlights of the night was The Award for the Greatest Contribution to Sussex Charity, which went to Kevin Byrne, CEO of Selsey-based Checkatrade.com. The award adds to a remarkable collection for Kevin who won Company of the Year at the Sussex Business Awards in 2013, Businessperson of the Year in 2012 and Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011.
