Wealden District Searches for the Most Sustainable Business
Wealden District Council has teamed up with the Sussex Business Awards as the platform to recognise the most sustainable business in Sussex.
This category of one of fifteen Sussex Business Awards in the 2015 competition and is free to enter.
The judges will be looking for outstanding achievement by those businesses for whom the protection or enhancement of the environment is placed at the core of their activities. The winning company will be one whose products or practices have resulted in significant beneficial environmental impact.
Last year’s winner was Furniture Now! a leading community waste, web re-use and training organisation helping as many people as possible access learning, price skills development and household affects thereby reducing society’s negative environmental impact and building social inclusion.
Petrina Mayson, thumb CEO of Furniture Now! commented: “We still cannot believe that we won the Most Sustainable Business! Achieving the recognition of the business world by winning such a highly regarded award meant a lot to the whole Charity. It has raised our profile and our credibility in the business world enormously. And it was a wonderful night of celebration for the team too!”
The category will be judged by Councillor Roy Galley, Wealden District Council who commented: “Wealden District Council is developing a District wide approach to encouraging and promoting the green enterprise through sustainable business growth and sustainable development. Our objectives are to encourage, promote, assess and reward sustainable green enterprise initiatives.
“We are keen to encourage green entrepreneurs to champion our approach and support the highest standards of sustainability in creating growth. I am very much looking forward to judging this category.”
