This Award is open to any business based in, or conducting the majority of its overseas business from, an operational base in Sussex. The company should demonstrate healthy import/export activity and good trading relationship with any country outside of the UK.

This Award will be made to the business best demonstrating outstanding innovation either by developing a new product or by introducing a new process or system to an existing business. The Award is open to any business based in, or conducting the majority of its business from, Sussex.

This Award will be made for outstanding achievement by a businessperson who is contributing to the success of a business based in the City. Nominations for this award can be from the entrant themselves of a third party can nominate.

This award is for businesses which operate in the creative and digital sectors. This includes those in digital and graphic design, online marketing, advertising, PR, photography, film, video-making, music, theatre, publishers, craft makers, artists and related sectors.

From accountants and actuaries to business consultants, recruiters, law firms and marketeers, the judges are looking for companies which work within the professional service sector. Entrants must demonstrate excellence in business management under-pinned by a strong financial performance and adherence to a professional code of conduct.

This Award will be made to the business that exceeds customer expectations in all areas of the business by providing the very highest level of customer service. Judges will be looking for a well-implemented customer care policy and how it contributes to the overall success of the company

Not For Profit Business of the Year

The judges are looking for third sector businesses (charities, social enterprises, other not-for-profit organisations, etc) driven by social and environmental aims that have set clear objectives, met or exceeded expectations and forecasts, demonstrated tangible evidence of success and have a clear and compelling vision for the future.

Tourist Attraction of the Year

This award recognises the success of any business or organisation in the tourism sector. Judges are looking for evidence of businesses that are developing and enhancing the tourism and visitor experience in Sussex.

Marketing Campaign of the Year

This Award recognises a marketing, PR or advertising campaign that has proved to be original, innovative and particularly effective. This can be a one-off campaign or part of a sustained strategy. Entry is open to both large and small budget campaigns and companies may enter directly, or marketing agencies may enter a campaign on behalf of a client.

Start-up of the Year

This Award aims to recognise promising new start-up businesses looking to make their mark on the sector in which they operate, illustrate fast-growth and have ambitious plans for the future. Entrants must have been trading for at least six months and for no longer than three years.

CSR Excellence Award

The CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Excellence Award celebrates business excellence and innovation in CSR across a broad range of disciplines. Nominations should cover at least two of the following areas – promotion of employee well-being, reduction of carbon footprint, improving the sustainability of processes in the workplace, community engagement, protection of the natural environment, supply chain, partnership, leadership and philanthropy.
